Looking Inside

Daily Prompt: The Outsiders
Tell about the experience of being outside, looking in — however you’d like to interpret that.

As a small child looking at children with their mothers, this is how I used to feel.

A lonely waif looking inside
The happy family, no space for me
Children with their mother
While me, looking inside

Am I a part of them?
No, I am not
I do want it though
But it isn’t my lot

Silently I scream
Their attention I want
Some stray words of love
That’s all I want

Looking Inside
