Daily Prompt: Game of groans
Think about an object, an activity, or a cultural phenomenon you really don’t like. Now write a post (tongue in cheek or not — your call!) about why it’s the best thing ever.

I used to play basketball and baseball in school. Forgot about games in College, because of studies. I was quite good at both. I feel nostalgic about baseball. I don’t think, I can find sufficient women among my acquaintances here, who would be willing to come and play.

It’s 79 degrees Fahrenheit outside. No one in her right mind would bother to come. Certainly, not the ones I know. They will think me daft.

Even if somehow I am able to persuade them, there won’t be an adequate number of us to play two teams.

There is yet another hurdle to playing. My son doesn’t keep the grass short the way I like. I like it moulded to the ground, the way I have it at my home. My son’s objection, “The grass you have is different. If I have it cut that way, it won’t survive.”

The biggest hitch to playing is insects. They make a beeline towards me, when they sense me around. I get bitten on face, neck, hands and feet all the time. If they manage to get inside the clothes, they have a field day.

No one suffers like I do. Last month I got bitten on the front side of my neck, and that was indoors. I put an ointment on it. It got better. Five days later, I got bit in the same place. Again got it treated. A week passed, and believe me I was vigilant in guarding my precious neck.

At some time I must have left my guard down. I was bitten again in the same place. My poor neck! It gave up fighting. It went from bad to worse. It looked awful. It was itchy, and it looked a terrible sight. When the scarf on my head touched, it got more inflamed.

Fortunately I went to Boston. I got a respite and my neck healed, due to the ointment my son-in-law gave me. Thanks FJ. Saved me a packet from skin specialists. Before leaving I made sure to spray my bedroom with a hefty dose of insecticide. I closed the door firmly in place, so that the one biting me, hits the bucket.

Think I will forgo my dream of playing baseball. Sigh!
