The Quaid

Daily Prompt: Instant Celebrity
If you could be a famous person for a day, who would you be? Why?

Mohammad Ali Jinnah

I don’t want to be someone else, even for a day. I am comfortable in my own skin.

Leaving myself aside, I admire Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. He gave the Muslims of the sub-continent emancipation from British Rule, and gave them their own country.

He worked tirelessly towards the creation of Pakistan, paying for it with ill health, and finally death in 1948.

If Jinnah could see what the country resembles now — a poor, torn nation, I am sure he will cry tears of blood. It was his single minded devotion which brought about the birth of Pakistan.

Years later on, Pakistan remains buried under colossal debt by the hands of the power mongerors. The high percentage of illiterate people play into the evil hands of corrupt politicians, who till now have only brought misery, and damnation to the country.

My deepest wish for Pakistan is, that it survives the hostility within and outside of it. It returns to peace and prosperity, and people breath a sigh of relief. Can you imagine life without electricity for eighteen hours at a time?

I wish the rulers wake up from their deep slumber, and fight the ills which plague the country, and bring back peace to it.
