Mansion in the Countryside

Daily Prompt: Reviving Bricks
You just inherited a dilapidated, crumbling – down grand mansion in the countryside. Assuming money is no issue what do you do with it?

Here I go at make believe: now who will give me a mansion? Even a dilapidated one. The land must be costing something. The daily prompt gets delightful day by day. It let’s you imagine untold things.

Now why am I feeling happy at renovating my mansion? I hope the fictitious aunt or uncle gets to reside in a Heaven full of luxury, and sometime look down upon me living in their earthy abode.

I am an ungrateful wretch. Instead of feeling grateful to the departed soul, I feel miserable. I long to live in this mansion, but the work I am facing is making me feel so oh so tired.

It has been abandoned for years. The front door is broken. The windows have been busted by vandals. The bathroom fixtures stolen. The roof needs repairs too. Years of neglect has taken its toll.

I hire a plumber to look at the plumbing in the kitchen and bathrooms, and get to know the cost. An electrician inspects the wiring.

It has taken me six months to repair the mansion. Doors and windows have been replaced. New flooring has been done where required. Curtains and new furniture has been ordered. A security system has been installed.

Finally my mansion is ready for me to move in. Wish me happiness!
