My Retreat

A sanctuary is a place you can escape to, to catch your breath and remember who you are. Write about the place you go to when everything is a bit too much.

I miss my home, my retreat

Where I used to be, to feel complete

And hide myself to be alone

It was an oasis, was my home

What possessed me to come so far away

Alien shores can never be a sanctuary

Where do I go from here to there

How do I find my yesteryear

  1. Like Princess Joy said this is so nice yet sad.

Could you delve more into your post? I would like to know more about it – the home you miss and the this new place you’ve come to.

    1. Hi Rojo, I am plain homesick. I came from Peshawar, Pakistan to Houston. I applied for a Green Card. If I leave without their decision, my stay here will be termed ill-legal, won’t be able to re-enter, and won’t get a visa.
I am waiting…… And the wait goes on.
      I feel a prisoner.

      1. Oh wow that is amazing. The only thing I will say is this feeling you have now, this prison like cage you feel trapped in – won’t be forever, I am sure. If anything this is a prison of the mind and soul. It must be hard to be so far away from everything but by the end of it all you will of grown and matured as a person – become someone who you weren’t before this huge change of yours, someone for the better.
