The Star of David
Nola (daughter), and I were on our way to meet Daughters of Abraham at a local synagogue. Nola has joined the group. This was a meeting between ladies of various faiths like Muslims, Christians, and Jews. One, or two atheists had joined the fray too.
Mostly the ladies wanted to know more about Eid al Adha, and the Qurbani (sacrifice). Nola explained to them about Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), and his son Ismail (Ishmael). Ibrahim saw in a dream that he was sacrificing his son. When Ibrahim decides to act upon the dream, God substitutes a ram in place.
Nola’s friend Merry who is a Christian had brought her mother to meet me. We hit it off with each other immediately, and sat together the whole time, while Nola circulated amongst the other ladies. In between chatting we had ice creams.
This was a day of getting to know each other. We have the same prophets, although the pronunciation differs. Muslims believe in one God. We revere all the prophets, and falsehood about them in other scriptures isn’t there in the Quran.
The next meeting will be held after a fortnight, but I will be Insha’Allah back in New Bedford.
