About

I am a person who loves to read and do a bit of gardening in my spare time. My husband died on 2nd Aug2012 of stomach cancer. It was a very sad time for my two children and myself. To while away the time on my hands I started blogging in February 2013.

The name Flowers and Breezes pertain to my actual name. My first name’s meaning is morning breeze. The middle name means a flower. That’s how Flowers and Breezes came into existence. For the name SheenMeem visit my archives and read,  “Call me Sheen.”

    1. Thank you. At present I am in Pakistan, but for the next few months I will be in US. I still start crying at the mere mention of my husband. My daughter persuaded me to start writing my blog.

  1. Assalamualaikum,

Im so sorry about the loss of your Husband. A small advice from my side. As per my view or as per Islamic perceptive, A Muslim loves his near and dear ones so much so that he wants to be with his Parents, Wife, Husband and entire Family with him in Paradise.

Islam is the true way of life which teaches a Muslims how to be positive and keep on loving your loved ones even when they die. There is a concept of Sawaab e Jariya in which a person who left this world will be benefited from their Family members. A Parent who has taught their children Islam, and if that children are pious and follow the knowledge you have imparted, you will get benefited of their righteousness and also they pray forever for your soul and after life. So I advice you to keep on doing things which benefits your and your loved ones after we leave this world. Due lots of Dua, prayers, and pay alams to poor and needy and help needy people in the way of Allah and pray that this good deeds benefit your Muslim parents and Husbands. Hope you understand what im saying. JazakAllah.

Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.”
They are those on whom are the Salawât (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones.

  6. Assalaam alaikum,I am delighted to know you. I am very sorry to hear about your husband’s passing. Mine passed away in 2005,he was a heart patient.I had a hard time for a while. I started doing online courses on Iqbal.I found it quite rewarding. I picked up blogging when one of my course participant started.
My time is spent much better now.
I found your post accidentally,I read about how your husband said, you are killing the Pushto language. I laughed and thought,I must try to write to you.
My Dad made a rule,we have to know our mother tongue, and any other language we learned was fine with him.
My name is Chaman. I use my nick name Ranu as my user name.
Best wishes to you and your children.

    1. Walaikum Assalam. I am equally delighted to hear from you. It’s sad to hear about your husband passing away. May his soul rest in peace, and May Allah Bless You with Happiness always, Ameen.
My husband used to make jokes about my Pushto. I guess with a lifetime spent with him, I learn’t to speak Pushto the correct way.

  7. Hi Sheenmeem,

May I offer my condolences at the loss of your husband.

Your name is a picture of loveliness; spring breezes and flowers.

When I visit your blog, I am touched by the softness and calm presence of your theme.

I am glad you are blogging. It is therapeutic to express yourself. I had a stroke in June of this year, and it was a source of encouragement to me, as I sought for things to share that I felt would be a blessing to my readers. My focus was not on what had befallen me and it kept depression at bay.

Thank you for the follow on my blog.

  10. Your decision to start blogging after the death of your husband was a wise one. I hope it has helped you do more than just while away the time. Writing is a good way to explore our own thoughts and feelings, especially after such a difficult time.

    Happy New Year.

  16. Hi Sheen. How do you feel about foregoing a daily prompt on June 2 and instead doing a Blog our? On that day, you’d be posting answers to 4 questions…erm..but I forgot to add that it would also mean asking 3 other bloggers if they’d be willing to answer those same questions and posting their answers a week after yours. I guess it’s a bit like a blog hop (I’m a newbie blogger, so these terms are new to me!).

      1. Easy peasy. 🙂 But please don’t stress over them. It’s meant to be fun. 😛 Here are the questions:
        1. What am I working on at the moment?
        2. How does my work differ from others (of its genre)?
        3. Why do I write what I do?
        4. How does my writing process work?

If you wouldn’t mind posting your answers on June 2nd? And link to my post when you do? If you have 3 bloggers you’d love to invite, please do! They’ll post their answers a week after yours & link their post to yours (no biggie if this part doesn’t happen).
