I’m prone to a runny nose, and sneezing 🤧 if there are cold germs in the vicinity. I often see adults, or children coughing, and sneezing depositing their precious cargo everywhere. Apparently my immune system is very weak. I was standing in an isle trying to find my favorite peach flavored yogurt, when the lady next to me decided to sneeze without putting an an elbow to her face. I’m sure all the things there got the full doze of it.
I should have moved from there. I carelessly continued the hunt for the elusive item I sought, and therefore endangered myself to a raging cold for the next few days. I hope next time something like the previous episode happens, I should take care, and immediately remove myself from the impending danger of catching the germs.
My late husband detested my use of tissues. He would point out to me to use a handkerchief. I could have used handkerchiefs, if I had someone to wash them, but if that someone had to be me, then I couldn’t do so. The thing was — the more I used the tissues, the more my nose leaked, and the more I found myself miserable 😩.
Dear readers! I have found a cure, which I should tell you this instant, and shouldn’t take hours like some people do. After wasting inordinate amount of minutes you keep waiting to get to the real thing. It is simple. The minute any fluid start escaping through your nose, go to the bathroom, and wash, and clean your 👃. At that time it feels tedious when you have to take the numerous trips to the bathroom, but believe me — it works effectively.
The germs wash away, and in no time you feel better. One other thing I must tell you is that my late husband was correct in telling me not to use tissues. There is something in the paper which aggravates in making the nose more runny.😣
Two things I badly need to do before I sleep, to warm my icy back, and secondly the frigid toes on my feet. I wonder at why my feet change to frozen from a normal state. Why do they go ice- cold? There is no feeling of cold, but the minute I slip into bed my feet won’t get warm. They turn magically into ice bricks. Friends with solution say, “Wear socks”. Socks in bed makes me feel claustrophobic, so no socks in bed for me.
I keep on turning in bed, swishing my feet to generate warm air in the tundra like confines of my bed. Sometime later they start to thaw out to help me in getting my elusive sleep. One reason I know is that my room becomes arctic in summer is due to Son keeping the thermostat at low temperature.
For my back I keep a pillow — actually not one, but two. The pillows get warm with my back, and in turn warm my cold prone spinal cord. At night I turn between the two pillows. I wonder about my back too as to why it feels more cold there? I have not found an answer yet.
Last night when I was having my usual night walk, I could feel the pinpricks of cold on my back. I kept muttering to myself, “It’s cold”, while a warm wind blew, and people around me were wearing shorts, showing bare legs, and arms. A few minutes of brisk walking chased away the feeling of cold, I straightened my hunchback stance, and breathed a sigh of relief.
I hope not, but someday I may turn into a freak by strapping a pillow to my back to get away from the cold signals my nerves tend to give.
Nola (daughter) had specially come here for a day to New Bedford, MA to be with us (Son, and I) for Mother’s Day. There was a slight drop of temperature, and the day was cold, and windy. I hadn’t realized that it would be chilly outside, and belatedly followed my children out of the building without wearing socks, and shoes. It wasn’t a good idea, as my feet are more susceptible to cold.
I thoroughly enjoyed being pampered by both my children. It seemed everybody out there had the same idea – that’s to give their mothers a good time.
WOW! To Happy Mother’s Day.

Symptoms of cold, Son achoos around the house. The germs gleefully trail in the air ready to strike any human object in the vicinity. They find me easily enough, cause our apartment is so small, and I am the unwilling victim. Son is forgetful. He nevers covers his nose into his elbow when he sneezes, and often I am the person handing him the tissues to clean his nose.
Have suggested to him to wear a mask when he goes to the nearby mosque for his prayers. That should hold the germs at bay, but it seems mother’s suggestions fall on deaf ears. The plethora of nasty, cold germs readily follows him home to me, and I get infected in turn. Dirty tissues abound in my bedroom, and my nose is redder than the proverbial Randolph who drives Santa around.
That’s one reason I open doors, and windows to get fresh air in the morning to waft in.

I’m happy to get an invitation to a party, wedding or a get together. The day arrives, my enthusiasm has worn off, and on the actual day I wish I didn’t have to attend the event. Once I actually forgot an invite, and realized it a day later on. To take care that doesn’t happen again I post a reminder to myself.
Yesterday my late husband’s first cousin came. Her son is getting married. She wanted me to attend the three days activities. Just thinking of three days festivities felt tiring, so I said yes to one day only, and that is the day of the wedding.
It’s cold, and with no electricity, or gas, it’s simply hell staying in our village. After spending two days, and nights at my village home, I am back in Peshawar. It feels like heaven to have heating. In the village with no electricity the water was simply freezing. The bed was ice cold, and even changing to wear pajamas to bed was a chore I dreaded. Trying to get my back warmed up I would lie straight all night, but it didn’t help.
The wedding is on Saturday. Thinking of spending a night in the village home looks like a nightmare in this cold, and rainy weather.
