Excess Baggage

Daily Prompt: Baggage Check
We all have complicated histories. When was the last time your past experiences informed a major decision you’ve made?

She was the new one, and certainly eye catching. Shinning long hair and eyes a lovely shade of green. The male section of the law class got hit right in their chests, and the girls’ section? A vibe of jealousy ran through.

The bell rang. She didn’t get up from her seat. She took out her lunch. Adnan while going out, stopped by her, “Hi! I am Adnan.” He smiled at her.
She forced a smile, “J.”
When he continued looking at her, “J, short for Jabeen.”
“Oh! Are you new to this city?” He asked her.
“No, lived here all my life.” She answered

She didn’t wanted to be rude, but the chap was not leaving.

“Excuse me.” She got up abruptly, pushed her things in her shoulder bag, and left the class room.

For the next few days, Adnan tried to be friends with her. As soon as her classes would finish, J would disappear.

He found her hiding place. He was returning a book, when he saw her sitting all alone, in a corner of the library. He went to join her. When he tried to talk, she whispered, “Sorry, I am preparing for the test.”

Then one day, through another girl Roohi, they all came to know, that J was a divorced mother of a kid.

That put a damper on Adnan’s feelings. This was a new perspective on J. Adnan seriously didn’t want excess baggage.
