An Ordinary Life

An ordinary life I am living

And that’s what I do

Son has left a load of washing

I have to take care of it too

The day begins with staring into the freezer

Cooking I have to do

What’s for lunch, what’s for dinner

I have to tax my brain to think what to do

The day go by with cleaning, and washing

Leisure hours are few

Sometimes it’s tiresome, and repetitive

But other times it’s wonderful too

Bespoke

Be spoken world, be spoken life

How to fit in to survive

To deal with things, to carry on

To remain alive, and hold on

The path is curvy, and too steep

Life is a struggle to cling on

(Sheen-December 2016)

Value

Cherished the time we spent together

Look what it has left me

Feelings of loneliness and heartache

Our values on life weren’t the same

To you wealth was all that mattered

It was the other way for me

Vast emptiness now surrounds me

The Old Stump

In 2009 we (my late husband and I)  visited our old friends and neighbors in Abbotabad. Our visit was a huge surprise for them. We had almost forgotten the way to their home.  The previous empty plots of land had new houses built on them. It was no wonder we couldn’t find our way. The area was un recognizable.

While we waited in the drive way, their man servant went inside the house to tell them about our coming. I looked at the garden, and was delighted at finding the old tree stump I had given them was still part of their landscape. It looked enchanting with an urn of flowers on top of it, and more plants and flowers planted around it in the soil.

I felt a pang of regret at the moment, why did I part with it?

Joke

A year back my son S sent me a cartoon. I saved it. I thought it hilarious. I never knew that he will be undergoing the same thing (divorce) a year later. We laughed today at his predicament as I showed him the images.

Crisis

I am passing through one crises, or the other. There are day to day crisis which are minor compared to big ones. Somehow one has to get through life which is not easy.

My only son S is bitter while going through his divorce. He is getting further immersed in debts. I fail to understand how can justice be dealt when a court doesn’t realize his limitations in money matters.

Divorce is a big tragedy in the life of a person wronged by a spouse. I now know the reason why young men won’t get married. They find it easy to keep girl friends rather than wives. With wives their life savings go once divorce comes their way.

The children suffer the most. S  couldn’t continue paying his eldest son’s college tuition. The boy is not understanding. S wanted him to go along with him to resolve the issue in getting a loan, but the boy refused to go with him. The office concerned requires both to be present.

What happens next?

Journey

I am on a journey

A journey through life

Some places are desolate filled with pain

Some filled with joy, laughter and gain

Future I don’t know, what’s there ahead

Days full of sunshine all beautifully spread

Hope does encircle me in how far I have to go

How near is the end, I don’t have to know
