Daily Prompt: An Ounce of Home
You’re embarking on a year long round – the – world adventure, and can take only one small object with you to remind you of home. What do you bring along for the trip?

For a world trip you need someone close, to go with you and share the thrill, wonder, vistas you get to see. Another thing is which is too bad, I have become a creature of comfort. I can’t rough it now.

A year back, I left my own home to come here. I packed two bags. I couldn’t pick anything which required a large space. The two bags allowed were 23Kg each. Believe me , they filled up so quickly. After weighing them, I took most stuff out again. I left my laptop even. I couldn’t cope with the shoulder bag, and laptop bag together on my shoulder.

I brought memories with me, as they didn’t occupy space, and two photos.
The two photos were: one was of my husband alone, and the other one was a group photograph.

In it my husband, son, daughter and I are standing in front of the rockery. Even that is a memory now.

Daily Prompt: A Tale of Two Cities
If you could split your time evenly between two places, and two places only, which would these be?

The prompt calls for two cities only, but I can’t. It has to be a tale of three cities.

I have to divide my time between three cities, Sugar Land, Riyadh and Peshawar. In the first two cities abide my children, and in Peshawar lies my own home.

Sugar Land is a suburb of Houston.

Houston, Texas, USA.

Sugarland, Houston, Texas.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Peshawar, Pakistan.

Peshawar, Riyadh and Sugarland
Three in a row it has to be
Symbolize home, daughter and son
All of them are important to me
I can’t let go one of them
They are my past, future and me

The Duck Boat Ride

Today we went on a duck boat ride. The route was picturesque. Here are a few photos. I have taken them through the windows of the bus-boat.

Once the duck boat was in water, the driver asked if anyone wanted to navigate. Two children wanted to take a turn. The driver, after asking their ages, which were seven and nine, jokingly declared them sixteen, the legal age to drive.

True and False

Daily Prompt: I Believe
Tell three things, that you believe in your heart to be true. Tell three things in your heart to be false.

1. Someone can see into the future.

No one can see into the future or tell except God. Charlatans often dupe people into believing that they can tell what the future holds for them. Naive people believe in what the dishonest and devious people tell them and get robbed of money.

2. Unlucky days or numbers.

There is no such thing as an unlucky day or an unlucky number. Just believe in what you do to be right and leave the rest to God. If it’s good for you, it will come to pass. If it doesn’t turns out the way you wanted it, believe it’s better for you this way and God will have something better for you latter on.

3. Men get heart disease more than women.

This is false. Heart disease is the number one killer among women. It kills more women than men. Women have a 50% higher chance of dying during heart surgery.

1. I believe in One God.

2. I believe Mohammad (Peace be upon him) was the last Prophet, or Messenger from God on earth.

3. I believe in the Day of Judgement and Resurrection.

We will be resurrected after death when the Day comes.
We will be judged by God for our deeds here on earth. If they were righteous deeds, we will go to Heaven. Otherwise the place is Hell.

Daily Prompt: It Builds Character
Tell about a favorite character from film, theater or literature, with whom you’d like to have a heart to heart. What would you talk about?

Once upon a time …………. I did have quite a collection of books. They were all hard covers — the originals. They must be very valuable now.

Oh my beloved books! Where are they now? Who got hands on them?
I know but I fear if I go for confrontation that person may deny.

As a child I read all the great classics. I think they didn’t escape my clutches. I read , ‘Gone With The Wind,’ when I was thirteen. That’s way long ago. My memory lapses, so please forgive me on any mistakes.

My favorite character was Scarlett O’Hara from Gone With The Wind.

She was vivacious, pretty and a feisty person. I don’t want to sound disloyal, but she was dumb at quite a few places. She made bad decisions at moments. She should have pulled back from various situations which she didn’t.

She fell in love with a wrong person … Ashley.

Got married to a man she didn’t love.

Snatched her sister’s beau.

Anyway the person I would like to talk is Rhett Butler.

I just want to ask him.

Why did you give up on Scarlett?

When you love a person you should tell at the earliest opportunity. Why didn’t you???

You left my heroine. It caused me heartache.

You Are Guilty Rhett, do you agree?

Books and Blogs

Daily Prompt: Reading Material
How do you pick what blogs or books to read? What’s the one thing that will get you to pick up a book or click on a link every single time?

I was a Bookworm, and now I have turned into a Blogworm. May I coin such a phrase?

Skipping and jumping with abandoned glee
Devouring blogs which take my fancy

I don’t know how my sixth sense or to say it accurately my book sense and blog sense developed. I gradually acquired this ability in both the cases.

Books I started reading them, very early in my childhood. As I grew up my reading choices also changed. I liked mysteries and horror stories. Probably must have been a little fiend myself. I loved autobiographies. I read all the great classics.

Those days are over now. I only read light fiction now. I keep at quite a distance from murder mysteries or sad ones. I cry buckets of tears at sad movies and books.

I look at the back cover of a book. See what is written and if it appeals to me, I take it. If it doesn’t, though I may have heard tons of praises about it, I don’t read it.

The same thing goes for a blog. Normally I like light, entertaining and humorous stuff. I am new to the blogging world. Gradually I am developing a discerning eye. There are great bloggers around me. Somedays I wish the day stretches so that I enjoy what others have written. There are great finds. My wish is for spare time to visit the blogs I like.
