Learning In Life Goes On

Daily Prompt: Ebb and Flow
Our blogs morph over time, as interests shift and life happens. Write a post for your blog but three years in the future. Show LIFE.

I am trying to imagine. It’s failing. I am delving straight to earth.

Three years from now, I don’t know whether I will be alive or not.
One thing I am sure is of getting more wrinkles on my face. Like this:

My writings may get better. Let’s HOPE so. I started writing this year in February, at the behest of my daughter. She was the one to encourage me. I wouldn’t have written one word even. You do need someone at your back, but she is far away from me.

Writing is like driving. When you drive more, your driving improves. I am hoping with more writing, it will improve. I will keep on SCRAMBLING.

I may learn to draw better and better photos too.

Better poetry too.

Learning in life goes on.

Here is to a better blog in the year 2016.

Life is a mystery, one doesn’t know
What lies ahead, would love the info
Echoes from the past, will follow
Hoping for the best, what life will bestow

Waiting Is Hard

Daily Prompt: A Bend In Time
When you’re giddy with excitement, does time speed up? Slow down?
Tell about the experience of anticipation. Show Waiting.

When you are waiting, time slows down
You count the seconds to make them go
Go faster, O hands of the watch
I feel miserable when you are so slow

O God, make the time go fast
It’s slowing down on purpose to make me aghast
Waiting is hard, I feel panicky
Time slows down and last, and last

The only thing I can do is to forget
Stop waiting and do some work
That way I may be able to pass time
I should stop thinking or time will lurk

No Change In 2100

Daily Prompt: 2100
The language of the future: what will it be like? Show Future

Today our internet stopped working. I am writing quite late as it is.

Growing up spoke three languages
Pushto, Urdu and English
Got the three jumbled up
Would forget to my anguish

People I’ve known don’t use slang
So don’t know what to say
I don’t think English will change
It will go on the same way

Daily Prompt: Celebrate Good Times
You receive some wonderful, improbable hoped-for good news. How do you celebrate?
Show Celebration.

Happiness and sorrow live side by side. One moment you are feeling on top of the world, and the next moment you are down under….

For me every day is a celebration.

Celebration to be alive.

Normally I receive my daily prompt about seven in the morning. Today I took a look at it after nine while I was having breakfast. I was thinking what to write, when a phone call came about the death of an uncle. You can imagine what happened to my thoughts. They got scattered like particles of fine sands on a beach.

I recall an occasion to celebrate was the birth of my grandson TJ. My daughter, already had three daughters. When she phoned to tell me, tears started running down my face.

It was a momentous occasion.

Here is my poem to Celebration.

It was a happy occasion to celebrate
Hearing the news, we felt elated
The worries fell away, happiness was there
The air danced around us, we felt feted

Everywhere around us happiness reigned
Tears were there too, but joy abound
We felt airborne upon the good news
Laughter rung out at celebration new found

Before The Storm Breaks

Daily Prompt: Standstill
For a moment today, time stand stills–but you can tweak one thing while it’s stopped. What do you do? Show STILLNESS.

It’s the lull before the storm
The stillness terrifies you
Everything just stopped
You have no clue

The birds stopped chirping
Overhead the sky turns black
Black with thunder clouds
Rain, lightning comes back

In your heart you look ahead
For the moment to be over
Bringing calmness and light
The sky will get bluer

A Dream Unfinished

Daily Prompt: Practice Makes Perfect?
Tell us about a talent you’d love to have…..but don’t. Show Talent.

Would love to be an artist
Would be happy as a lark
Following my dream
Sitting in a park

O God, let me draw
Drawing for fun
What a talent it’ll be
When I am done

How can it be?
Should find time for it
Drawing and painting
Till I am fit

Practice makes perfect
My dream will go on
Drawing for recreation
Till I am gone

A Dream Unfinished

To Be Fair

Daily Prompt: Tell us about something you think is terribly unfair — and explain how you would rectify it. Show Fair.

I am fair in my dealings
Would love people to be fair
Not to take advantage
When they are anywhere

Please be trustworthy
And equitable and just
And be honorable
Being fair is a must

Unjust people live around us
One has to be beware
To keep away from them
And wish them elsewhere
