Being forgetful, I need to keep a tracking record of my finances. I arrived back with Son on fourth of February. Son and I collected our mail from the post office two days later. We had told the post office to hold the mail for us. My healthcare bill was overdue by a few days. Apparently this was their last missive to remind me to pay, otherwise it would be cancelled. They didn’t know I wasn’t in the country, and wasn’t getting their letters.
I was worried that by not sending them the payment due on time, I would become ineligible. Hurriedly I went online to pay the bill, which they accepted. A few days later another bill arrived which included the previous amount I had already paid. I insisted that I have paid it, whereas Son wasn’t convinced.
Problem was solved when Son checked my bank account to see that it was paid. It’s good to keep a record of it in my files. I mark the ones for which I have paid online with paid written, and a tick mark on them. Sometimes forgetfulness becomes a burden.
