Daily Prompt: Roy G Biv
Write about anything you’d like, but make sure that all seven colors of the rainbow – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet — make an appearance in the post, either through word or image.
Show COLORS.
This is a true story.
There was shouting from outside, “Come out.”
Different voices, all calling with the same urgency, “Are you hearing? Come out, it’s not safe.”
It was cold. I was wondering why they wanted me outside. At that moment everything started shaking violently around me. The earthquake was so sudden.
I was huddled in a blanket on my bed. From there I slipped under the bed. I thought, it would keep me safe.
My elder brother came running inside, trying to see in the gloom where I was. He did shout, “She is not here.” He went running outside again.
He came back, “Where are you Sheen?”
I peeped at him, “Under the bed.”
“Come out,” and he tugged at me, pulling me. He picked me in his arms, while I was squirming, trying to get to my place of safety. It was no use trying.
He took me outside. Everybody stood at a safe distance from the house. They gave a collective sighof relief at seeing me.
Lightening had struck, and the upper roof had caught fire at the junction where the electric lines went inside the house.
Mother, grandma, aunty and we children watched with mouths agape, at the unbelievable scene. At that moment rain started and within a short time the fire estinguished. Everyone went inside, thankful at God’s mercy.
The rain stopped as quickly as it had started. Looking above, I saw a beautiful, wide rainbow hung across the sky.
