Shine

When my children were very young, they wouldn’t get up to get ready for school. I would pull the curtains aside to let morning light in. I would give them a peck on the cheeks, and say, “Rise and shine”, in a sing song voice.

It would take repeated efforts on my part to wake them up. Once they started their morning prayers, they began waking on their own. I stopped saying rise and shine, and totally forgot saying that.

The New School

I have never been a teacher except to my own two children. If I have to do anything with a school the basics will remain. They are the foundation on which studies are built. You can’t remove a foundation from a building otherwise it won’t stand.

I will teach them good values (besides studies), and I will do my utmost to make them grow into better humans. Young minds are impressionable. They are like plants, and the best way to mold them to grow straight is to begin at a tender age.

I have heard young ones say “my teacher said this” or “teacher says”. For them that’s the law or the truth.

Last night at dinner time I heard IB saying “Do you know if a man travels at the speed of light, he can go into future?” He insisted that it was a proven fact in science.

I kept thinking what really his teacher had said?

We can’t do away with basic skills like reading, writing and arithmetic. They are the base on which the whole structure of learning stands.

The most important thing for a school is to get good teachers. A teacher is the heart of the educational system. A good teacher inspires a student to love learning. Teaching is an art which shapes human mind and spirit. Great teachers give incentive to great minds.

Teachers selected should be those who are sound in everything. To raise young minds, we should have kind and caring teachers who impart knowledge with good morals.

Teachers are the ones who can change their students’ lives for the better.

Good schools impart basic skills, social skills, physical skills, mental skills and good morals to young minds.

You go on learning
All your life
It keeps you going
Right through life

It enhances your world
Keeps you satisfied
The things you gather
Better your life

Be it the knowledge
Work that you do
It makes you friends
With the world
