Wish Of My Heart

Daily Prompt: Michelangelo’s YOU
Your personal sculptor is carving a person, thing or event from the last month of your life into a glistening marble of immortality. What’s the statue and what makes it so significant?

It was our Silver Wedding Anniversary. I wanted a small fountain in our front lawn. I had been at it for quite sometime. My husband as usual kept putting it off. I would be assured time and again that It would be done. On his assurances I would wait happily anticipating and looking forward to it. The day never came.

We had gone to our village to attend a relative’s marriage. The festivities went on for three days. Finally we returned in the evening to our home.I was tired. My husband liked home cooked meals. I went straight to the kitchen to make something for our evening meal.

It was striking Nine when I finished tidying up the kitchen. I was practically dozing on my feet. After saying my prayers quickly, I went straight to bed. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep.

My husband was a person who had to be told what I wanted as a gift. After making his morning bed tea, I took the tray to his bed table. I reminded him about our Wedding Anniversary and wished him a Happy Day. Then I went outside to take a look at my beloved plants.

I looked at our lawn and saw something white glistening in a corner. With wonder I looked at my most cherished dream come true. A small fountain with my statue by it’s side welcomed me.

My husband for once managed to give me the surprise of my life.
