A Day On The Beach

Daily Prompt: Sudden Shifts
You’re at the beach with some friends and/ or family, enjoying the sun, nibbling on some watermelon. All of a sudden, within seconds, the weather shifts and hail starts descending from the sky. Write a post about what happens next.

We had gone to a nearby beach for our Sunday outing. We had with us our lunch of Tuna fish sandwiches, water bottles and juices.

The children were excited at spending a day on the beach. They rushed with their pails and spades to the water edge, and started building their sand castle.

They put off eating their lunch. Why? Because on the way to the beach, they had stuffed themselves with Doritos, Nachos, Snickers and sweets. We watched the children build their sand castle, while we sat beneath our beach umbrella talking with each other.

All of a sudden black clouds overtook the sunny sky, and the day darkened. We were surprised when a hailstorm started. Men, women and children ran helter skelter to get some protection from the hail stones. They were quite big in size. Those who didn’t have umbrellas, took refuge by covering themselves with towels.

Thankfully it was over soon. It finished as quickly as it had started. A watery sun poked out it’s smiley face, and peered at us. People went back to enjoying their day at the beach.
